Application of Cone Calorimeter in Research of Fire Science

Abstract

Cone calorimeter(CONE) is internationally regarded as the best technology to measure the reaction and combustion characteristics.CONE,made by polymer material,is a new generation apparatus to measure combustibility.Combustion condition of CONE is similar to the one of actual situation which guarantees the close relation with the large combustion experiment results showing the real combustion characters of different materials.The structure and principle of CONE were mainly introduced and its application status in fields of material combustion,flame retardant and fire model was particularly analyzed in this paper.The results show that the CONE will widely do great contribution in fitment material,mine fire,plastic,wood and so on;it also will do help to the investigation of flame retarding mechanism,grading of the combustion hazard,evaluating of the poison gas and smoke,confirming of the combustibility and flame retardance.Future development trend of CONE was finally discussed.
