Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Electromyographic biofeedback on limb Brunnstrom stages after stroke in the old patients. Methods 80 consecutive cases of the old patients with hemiplegia after stroke were researched, randomly divided into study group and control group with 40 cases in each group. All the patients had comprehensive rehabilitation therapy, the control group received electromyographic biofeedback training in addition. The limb Brunnstrom stages were evaluated during each stage of the treatment. Results The significant progress was detected in Brunnstrom score in the postoperative weeks compared to the preoperative within-group evaluation for each of the groups(P0.05).There was significant difference in the postoperative weeks in favour of electromyographic biofeedback training compared to Comprehensive rehabilitation therapy(P0.05).Conclusions The addition of electromyographic biofeedback training to a conventional exercise program in the old patients with hemiplegia after stroke helps to speed up the rehabilitation process.
