Abstract

Wireless mesh networks consist of mesh clients, mesh routers and gateways; based on the new network of multi-hop routing, peer-to-peer technology, high-speed, high capacity. How to design a wise routing protocol and related algorithms for wireless mess networks is .an important research topic in its domain. The paper proposes a modified version of the routing metric of the popular RARP protocol, named W-ETT, which is Weighted Expected Transmission Time routing metric. Utilizing the weighted mean algorithms, W-ETT cuts down the Packet Lost Ratio, and at the same time improves the network throughput greatly. It is demonstrated in the simulation that the new routing metric can improve the wireless Mesh network performance, and has some instructional significance for studying the wireless Mesh network routing algorithm.
