Abstract
Using the Bayesian absolute location method,we obtained the Yutian,Xinjiang, earthquake(MS7.3)epicenter parameters,82.56°E,36.04°N,and 12.3km in depth. We also relocated the 254aftershocks using the double-difference algorithm, and finally obtained 101 relocated earthquakes. Our results show that the mainshock is located at the junction of several branches of the southwestern Altyn Tagh fault zone. The aftershocks are mainly located at 5~ 10km depth. The fault plane reflected by aftershocks around the mainshock is very steep, and these aftershocks clearly demonstrate a purely unilateral extension in southwest direction. There is a clear event cluster at the Minfeng seismic area in the NE direction of the Altyn Tagh fault zone, which may be triggered by the mainshock.
