Abstract

Carbon and oxygen isotopic composition in a Uranium-series and carbon-14 dating stalagmite is determined and their Paleoclimatic significance is discussed. Oxygen isotopic record in stalagmite reflects the isotopic composition of local meteoric water, which is controlled by both temperature and moisture. On the contrary, carbon isotopic composition is mainly response to the change of vegetation nature, and is a potential proxy of precipitation amount. However, The quantitative interpretation for stable isotope in speleothem needs further research.
