Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between the expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 and the clinicopathological characteristics in gastric adenocarcinoma tissues. Methods Immunohistochemical EnVision method was used to detect the expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in 62 cases of gastric adenocarcinoma,18 cases of normal gastric mucosa obtained from patients whose partial gastrotomy was performed for benign diseases. The effects of them and the clinicopathological parameters on the prognosis of patients were studied. Results The positive rates of COX-2 and MMP-9 in gastric adenocarcinoma tissues were 66.7%(42/62)and77.4%(48/62) respectively. The expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in carcinoma tissue were significantly higher than those in normal gastric mucosa, and the difference was significant(P0.05).The expressions of COX-2 and MMP-9 in gastric adenocarcinoma were significantly associated with TNM stage, invasive depth and lymphnode metastasis(P0.05),except for tumor grading. The expressions of COX-2 was closely correlated with MMP-9(P0.05).Conclusion COX-2 and MMP-9 play very important roles in the occurrence and development of gastric adenocarcinoma.COX-2 and MMP-9 are associated with lymph node metastasis and TNM stage of gastric adenocarcinoma and they are important markers in evaluating the prognosis of the patients.
