Investigation on Growth of Platycladus orientalis in the Forest Land Converted from Farmland in Yuyang District of Yulin City

Abstract

The growth of 7-year-old Platycladus orientalis in 10 sample plots within different site types and same soil is investigated.Result shows that: Platycladus orientalis grow best in the downhill of the sunny slope with an average height of 1.44 m,grow worst in uphill of sunny slope and midslope of shady slope,grow medium in other sample plots.In all sample plots,the tree heights which are during 1-1.4 m 1.4-1.8 m constitute 54% 27%,respectively,but the tree heights which are under 1 m and over 1.8 m are less than 20%.In general,Platycladus orientalis are able to grow well and fast in arid and barren loess plateau.
