Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical efficacies of box moxibustion on Shenque(CV 8) on the autumnal equinox versus moxibustion box on Shenque(CV 8) in preventing gastrointestinal diseases Methods Two hundred and fifty volunteers were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups, 125 persons each. The treatment group received moxa stick box moxibustion on Shenque(CV 8) on the autumnal equinox and the control group, moxibustion box on Shenque(CV 8). The morbidity was investigated in the two groups at two years after treatment. Results The morbidity was 18.4% in the treatment group and 44.8% in the control group; there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion Box moxibustion on Shenque(CV 8) on the autumnal equinox is an effective way to prevent gastrointestinal diseases.
