Abstract

The reorganization of N-hydroxy-benzenanine was studied in solutions of hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid by spectrophotometry. The reorganization proportion of N-hydroxybenzenanine to p-aminophenol increases with temperature and acid concentration of the solutions. It cannot reorganize completely to p-aminophenol in hydrochloric acid solution, and the reorganization efficiency of phosphoric acid is superior to that of hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid. The reorganization proportion reached 100% in phosphoric acid solution under conditions of [H +]=0.6 mol/L, 75 °C and reacting for 30 min.
