Abstract

All songs are products of a certain historical period and inevitably tinged with the color of the times. The “music during the Great Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)” has been an important topic of research in China’s history of contemporary music. This thesis makes a comprehensive and in-depth description of the musical features of songs composed from 1966 to 1976, focusing on the themes, types and singing skills of these songs. By summarizing the historical experience of and lessons from their creation, it further explores their artistic and historical values.
