Abstract

Objective To observe the influence on the metatarsal joint cytokine in rat models with rheumatoid arthritis after moxibustion on Shenshu(BL 23) and Zusanli(ST 36) points, and to provide the new evidence for the local anti-inflammatory immune effect of moxibustion. Methods RA model in rats were duplicated with Wind, cold, wet environmental factors combined with Freund's complete adjuvant. The aminals were divided into normal group, moxibustion group, acupuncture group, drug group and CO2 laser group, and were treated with corresponding methods, which were with no treatment, moxibustion, acupuncture, drugs and 10.6 μmCO2 laser irradiation.IL-1β,IL-2 and TNF-αwere tested by immunohistochemical method to discuss the effect of moxibustion Shenshu(BL 23) and Zusanli(ST 36) on the local joint cytokine. Results Moxibustion could increase IL-1β and TNF-α and decreased IL-2 in metatarsal joints of rheumatoid arthritis model rats, and could adjust the function of local immune disorders. Conclusion The anti-inflammatory immune function of moxibustion could be achieved by adjusting the cytokine in local joint tissue.
