Comparative analysis for minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy and transurethral ureteroscopy lithotripsy in treatment of upper ureteral calculi

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(MPCNL) and transurethral ureteroscopy lithotripsy(URL) in treatment of upper ureteral calculi. Methods 60 cases of patients with upper ureteral calculi in our hospital from October 2012 to June 2013,they were randomly divided into research group and the control group,the 30 patients in research group were given MPCNL treatment,the 30 patients in control group were given URL treatment,the operation time,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative hospital stay of two groups were compared and the stone clearance of two groups were recorded. Results The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative hospital stay of two groups were compared,the difference was not significant(P0.05).In 3 d,1 month after surgery,the stone clearance rate of research group was significantly higher than that of the control group,the difference was significant(P0.05). Conclusion The clearance rate of MPCNL in treatment of upper ureteral calculi is high,with fewer complications,small trauma,it can be the preferred treatment of ureteral calculi.
