The Problems and Predicament of the Overseas Education in the Late Qing Dynasty

On the side of the government,the overseas education in the late Qing Dynasty has some principal characteristics which are lash-up and dominated by outstanding persons.On the side of the group of students abroad,there are some characteristics,like patriotism is consistent with utilitarianism,and the particular knowledge structure which is focused on the western culture.The overseas education in the late Qing Dynasty has some serious problems which are utilitarian and unsuited by training of the students abroad for their occupation.Meanwhile,especially because of a fundamental opposition between the modern enterprise of studying abroad and the traditional autocratic government,the overseas education fell into an inextricable predicament in the late Qing Dynasty.Except that quite a number of students abroad became an important strength which tried to subvert the Qing government,the examination policy of studying abroad which was rewarded by the Qing government,actually made the modern system develop into the traditional enterprise,and was becoming more and more distant from the modern times in a certain sense.
