Abstract

This study was intend to observe the dynamic of serum levels of VEGF (sVEGF) in nasopharyngeal patients in the course of radiotherapy, and provide an evidence to cure NPC through radiotherapy associated with targeting VEGF. sVEGF in 33 nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients were detected by ELISA every week before the treatment,in the course of the treatment and after the treatment. The sVEGF before radiotherapy, among radiotherapy and after radiotherapy were (308.63±203.04) ng/L,(483.36±245.11) ng/L,and (381.41±249.95) ng/L respectively. SVEGF before radiotherapy was higher than sVEGF among radiotherapy and after radiotherapy (P=0.003,P=0.008),but there was no difference between sVEGF among radiotherapy and after radiotherapy (P=0.209). In the course of radiotherapy, the time of highest sVEGF was most in 3-5 weeks, and the proportion was 63.7%. The preliminary results showed that sVEGF in the course of radiotherapy was obvious higher than sVEGF before radiotherapy in the NPC patients. Radiotherapy associated with targeting VEGF may be effect in the treatment of NPC.
