Analysis on Results of Rodent Rats Infected with Leptospira in Hunan Province in 2008

Abstract

Objective To investigate the classification and density of the host infected with leptospira,and the serotype and infected rate of them in Hunan Province,and to provide the scientific measures for prevention and control of leptospirosis. Methods According to the document titled the implement scheme of leptospira surveillance in Hunan Province in 2008,we investigated the type of rats infected with leptospira and infection rate in four surveillance areas.Rodent rats were captured outdoor by the method of night trapping.Rat kidneys were collected and leptospira was cultured by using Korthof method.The serotypes were identified with serological method and agglutination test. Results Totally 334 samples were cultured effectively,with the total infection rate of 1.80%.The infection rates of Xiangtan County and Yuanjiang City were 4.55% and 2.56%,respectively(P0.05).The infection rates of Apodemus agrarius, Mus musculus,Rattus norvgicus were 0.51%,4.48%,and 4.35%,respectively(P0.05).Six strains of leptospira were sejroe strain 1,autumnalis strain 2,australis strain 2,and javanica strain 1,respectively. Conclusions There are significant differences in density of hosts and their infection rates of leptospira in Hunan Province.Autummnalis and australis groups are the dominated groups.It is necessary to take integrated measures to prevent and control the outbreak and prevalence of leptospirosis.
