Abstract
Objective To explore the influence of mercuric chloride on embryonic development of golden hamster. Methods Hamsters in the experimental group were intragastrically administrated daily with mercuric chloride for five days from the 6th day of gestation.Hamsters in the control group were intragastrically administrated daily with water at the same time.Golden hamster were sacrificed on the 14th day after pregnancy, then the fetuses were got.Living, dead, absorbed, implanted and defected fetuses in number were recorded. The living fetuses was checked, weighed.Their crown-rump length was measured. The morphological changes of neural tube of golden hamster fetuses were observed by hematoxylin-eosin staining. Results No evident change was observed in the 2mg/kg group, but embryonic development of golden hamster was inhibited in the 3mg/kg group and 4mg/kg group, their weight were decreased, but no defected fetuses were found in all the experimental group. There were no evident morphological changes of neural tube. Conclusion Mercuric chloride may inhibit embryonic development of golden hamster, but no defected fetuses were found.
