Research tendency and application of 4D CAD

Abstract

4D CAD is a new technique combining 3D CAD models and time.It's the new development of CAD in the field of construction management.Several current 4D CAD systems are firstly compared and discussed in this paper,and the building information model(BIM) is introduced and compared with the 4D CAD technique.Then basic functions and applying situation of 4D CAD are revealed.And based on practices in construction projects,the applying method and effects of 4D CAD is discussed.In the end,the development and research tendency of 4D CAD is presented.
