Abstract
Objective To observe the effectiveness and safety in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) with a antagonist for tumor necrosis factor,Salazotyrin. Methods We randomly divided 97 RA patients into 2 groups:the control group(57 RA patients) was given hydroxychloroquine and methotrexate sulfuric acid for 3 months;the treatment group(40 patients) was treated by Salazotyrin for the same period. Results The total effectiveness rate of the treatment group(92.5%) was significantly higher than that of control group(71.9%)(P0.05).There were significant differences in the following aspects:number of swollen joints, index of swollen joints, period of morning stiffness, index of joint tenderness, etc.between after treatment and pre-therapy(P0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups. Conclusion Salazotyrin is better in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis than the traditional drugs methotrexate and hydroxychloroquine, with few adverse reactions and good safety.
