Social Mobility and its Channel:A Theoretical Explanation of Migrant Workers in China

This paper,based on the theories of social mobility and mobility channels especially,analyzed China's mobility of rural migrant workers,and then reached the following important conclusions:(1) The mobility is generally a horizontal one with very little vertical uplifting,and their working condition is alarming.(2) The mobility channel for the population is really single,and since other channels are blocked to them they could only depend on their own individual social capital,which will hence cause a lot of social problems.(3) The horizontal mobility channel is one of social capital,while the vertical mobility channel for uplifting the people belongs to human capital.
