Abstract
Abstrac GIS, GPS and Remote Sensing technologies were used in combination with field survey to investigate current status of wetland resources in Ninglang county of Yunnan province. There are 4 categories of wetlands in the county, including river wetlands, lake wetlands, marsh wetlands and artifi cial wetlands, and 8 types of wetlands. The total wetland area was 8 837.35 ha. There were more than 500 wetland plant species of 90 families, 6 vegetation types and 34 formations, and 50 wetland bird species of 11 families belonging to 7 orders. To solve the problems existing in wetland management, strategies were proposed to improve institutional management and intensify law enforcement.
