Abstract
The geological environment in Zhangjiakou area has greatly influenced the ecological environment in Beijing region. It is necessary to evaluate comprehensively the geological hazards and the environment of developing geological hazards in this area in order to protect the ecological environment of Beijing. On the basis of studying quantitatively or qualitatively the geological hazards and the environment of developing geological hazards using remote sensing technique, the geological hazards and their environment are evaluated with the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Ten elements that involved some geological hazards and their relative environment elements are selected to evaluate the geological hazards and the environment states of developing geological hazards in the study region. The ten evaluation elements are divided into two groups (middle element lager), so a three\|layer evaluation system is constructed. Through such evaluating, the slight and good area of geological hazards and the environment' state of developing geological hazards account for 19\^7 per cent of all the study area, the mid\|degree area 52\^4 per cent and the serious and bad area 27\^9 per cent. The space distribution features of all kinds of geological hazards are roughly described. All in all, the evaluation conclusion for all the study area is that the geologic hazards in the area is serious and the geological environment state bad.
