Land use change of Lujiangba in the typical hot valley of Nujiang river basin

Lujiangba is typical of the hot valley of Nujiang river basin in Yunnan province.It is also an important area for tropical economic plantation.With the support of RS and GIS technology,it was applied that a series of indices in characterizing the dynamics of land use to identify the temporal-spatial characteristics of land use in Lujiangba.Landsat images of 1974,1991 and 2006 were interpreted for land use maps.The results indicated that the forest area decreased yearly,in contrast to the growth of famland reclamation rate and utilization of construction land area.Among single land use types,the cultivated area of Sugarcane alternated mostly.The utilization grade in 1974,1991 and 2006 was 224.16,229.93 and 240.49 respectively.The driving forces of the Land Use and Land Cover Change(LUCC) in Lujiangba were population pressure,economic development,and policy adjustment.These driving forces interacted with each other and changed the LUCC of Lujiangba.
