The Development of the Marriage Customs of Dan Ethnic Group in Gugangdong——Taking Hailing Island as an Example

Dan people, living along the southeastern coastal area of China, have their own unique boat culture.Dan group has different marriage and family system from that of other ethnic groups, including the change of marriage forms, the composing and changing characteristics of their family system and so on, which are all developing with changing times. By combining the three aspects of marriage and wedding(including marriage forms, customs and marriage rules) with economic-cultural type theory, and focusing on marriage customs, the present study aims to explain the inner relationship between the changes of marriage customs and the change of family formation.
