Abstract
Bank failure under lateral erosion is analyzed by numerical method. A method to calculate lateral erosion distance is put forward. With continual lateral erosion seepage and stability of bank have dynamic changes. Mechanism and cause of bank failure under lateral erosion are put forward. The seepage and erosion are primary dynamic influence factors on bank failure; and the soil composition, soil distribution and slope angle of bank are primary internal influence factors on bank failure. Based on mechanism analysis relevant treatment measures to bank stability are presented.
