Abstract

A new blend was prepared by blending EPDM/PR blend and NBR/PF blend.Dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) results showed that EPDM/PR blend and NBR/PF blend exhibited excellent damping properties at room temperature, but their effective damping temperature range(when the tanδ was above 0.3) was narrow. When the blending ratio was 50∶50,the effective damping range of the new blend could be extended to 100℃(-17.2℃~83.5℃).When the component ratios of EPDM/PR blend and NBR/PF blend were changed, while the blend ratio of the two binary blends kept unchanged, the damping properties of the new blend would variate correspondently.Different acrylonitrile(AN) content in NBR would change polarity of NBR,leading to variation of compatibility of the new blends, the damping properties was thus affected. The effective damping temperature range of the new blend reached 127.8℃ when the blending ratio was 50∶50 and AN mass percentage was 40%.
