Abstract

The ecosystem health evaluation at a regional scale is an important development direction for evaluating the ecosystem health, and landscape pattern is significant to the regional ecosystem health. An assessment index system of region ecosystem health was established based on the theory of vigor-organization-resilience(VOR) proposed by Rapport and the theory of landscape ecology. The comprehensive assessment model was applied to evaluate the ecosystem health of 4 cities in the Luanhe River Basin in 2008.The results showed that the ecosystem is very health(level 1) in Chengde, health(level 2) in Qinhuangdao,sub-healthy(level 3) in Tangshan, and unhealthy(level 4) in Xilinguole. The undiversified ecosystem structure is the primary reason for the unhealthy ecosystem in Xilinguole, and the reason of weak ecosystem in Tangshan is excessive urbanization and development of coastal industry.
