Abstract
Geostrophic adjustment is an important process in the atmosphere. In this paper, two classical geostrophic adjustment models and their applications in the frontogenesis dynamics are reviewed. Meanwhile, the minimum principle of energy is used to discuss the final state of geostrophic adjustment. Results shows that the final state is decided by the initial potential vorticity.
