Abstract

Objective To investigate the protective role of central melat-onin(MT) in stress gastric mucosa injury in rats and its mechanism. Methods The stress ulcer model was established by constraint-cold stress method. The drugs were injected into lateral ventricle of cerebrum by the brain stereotaxic frame. The ulcer index(UI),gastric mucosa blood flow(GMBF),the volume and acidity of gastric fluid were measured in rats of every group. Results compared with normal control group, the stress group showed an increase in the UI and the volume and acidity of gastric fluid, and a decrease in GMBF(P0.05,P0.01).In the MT+stress group, the UI was decreased and GMBF was increased, while the volume and acidity of gastric fluid declined. When MT+stress group was compared with the stress group and the normal saline(NS)+stress group, the difference was significant(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Central MT has a protective role in gastric mucosa injury,it is related to the increase in blood flow of gastric mucosa and the inhibition the excretion of gastric acid.
