Abstract
With HZSM-5 as catalyst nitration of toluene by N_2O_5 was investigated.By the use of the new nitrating agent, the use of concentrated sulfuric acid was avoided and the reaction was environmental friendly with high atom economy.Meanwhile, the effects of reaction temperature, reaction time, amount of catalyst and the ratio of Si/Al of HZSM-5 on the nitration were investigated.Under optimum conditions, the yield of nitration of toluene was 42%,and para-selectivity was 79%.
