Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of the maxillary molar distalization with modified pendulum appliance. Methods 4 patients of Class Ⅱdental malocclusion were treated with modified pendulum appliance by distal molar movement.Cephalometic radiographs were taken and analyzed before and after molar distalization. Results The maxillary molar was distalized by 3.85 mm on average per side with crown tilting distally by 3.22°.The insiors mesially moved by 2.08 mm on average per side.Anterior overjet was increased by 1.68 mm.Conclusions The modified pendulum appliance could distalize the maxillary molars effectively and correct the molar occlusion quickly. However,it may result in anchorage loss and mesial movement of incisors.
