Abstract

As nutrient substance of human body, the blood lipid was the components of ying blood belonged to yin property which was heavy, turbid and greasy. The generation, circulation and metabolism of blood lipid depended on the normal movement of qi and blood and functions of the viscera. The characteristics of blood lipid were similar to dampness, phlegm and blood stasis to a certain extent, but blood lipid was not pathogen which should not be treated as harmful substances to be reduced. The imbalance of qi-blood and dysfunction of the viscera resulted in the abnormal blood lipid and pathological products, such as dampness, phlegm and blood stasis. The four diagnostic methods and syndrome differentiation should be used to regulate the movement of qi and blood and functions of the viscera. Only when the blood lipid was seriously abnormal and recognized as dampness-phlegm syndrome and blood stasis syndrome by syndrome differentiation, it should be performed to reduce phlegm and removing dampness and activate circulation to remove blood stasis, which had a good clinical efficacy.
