Abstract

The establishment of Stanford Industrial Park was the real beginning of modern Silicon valley while the construction of industrial research parks was the real starting of Route 128. Both of th two high-tech parks experienced four development stages. A certain degree's planning, neighboring research universities, venture capital, and the quality of climate and life are the common factors for the success of Silicon Valley and Route 128. However, there exist giant differences among business clusters, social structure, regional cultures, industrial system and firm organizational structure, which led to disparate results. From Silicon Valley and Route 128,we can draw some lessons and experience for China's Hi-tech park development.
