Abstract
It has been suggested by the author that Tao Yuanming is a symbol of the Chinese culture. This is evidenced by the abundant ancient Chinese paintings on Tao Yuanming. The theme of the paintings of Tao Yuanming is about his works, the anecdotes of him and his portraits. These paintings reflect the images of Tao Yuanming in the mind of the artists, through which we could explore the ideal of life and esthetics of Tao Yuanming as a symbol of Chinese culture as well as his widespread influence.
