Abstract

The genetic relationships of 7 popular Phalaenopsis red flower species are studied by RAPD technique.Using 3 ideal primers selected,39 DNA fractions were amplified, among which 27 fractions were polymorphic and the percentage of polymorphic bands was 69.2%.This suggested that the polymorphism was rich among the seven Phalaenopsis. The genetic distance was calculated and UPGMA cluster tree was constructed by popgen32 software, and the genetic relationship of 7 Phalaenopsis was determined. The results showed that RAPD markers represented a useful tool for distinguishing similar cultivar of Phalaenopsis and played an important role in Phalaenopsis breeding.
