Abstract
Objective: To investigate the relationship between elder patients with sleep apnea hyponea syndrome(SAHS) and hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, and to study the effective interventions treated SAHS.Method: 86 cases of elder SAHS patients who had diagnosed by polysomnography were selected as test sample.Result: Of the 86 SAHS cases,82 had complications(95.35%),47 had over 2 complications(54.65%),and 36 cases had more than 4 kinds of diseases(41.86%).Among them,56 cases complicated hypertension,48 cases had coronary heart disease,38 cases complicated with diabetes, and 36 cases with cerebrovascular disease. Most 60~69-year-old patients suffered from obstructive apnea, mixed apnea occurred to patients of over 70-year-old.Between the two groups, there was obvious difference in the average apnea time, the mean SaO_2 and the lowest SaO_2.Conclusion: Elder SAHS patients have more complications, most of which are hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease.Besides, with the progress of their age, certain changes occur in the type and severity. And nBiPAP works obviously on elder SAHS patients.
