Abstract

【Objective】 The objective of this study was to apply a theoretical basis of the scientific fertilization for high yield and high quality, according to study the effects of nitrogen topdressing date and rate in spring on dry matter accumulation and its distribution, yield, total alkaloid and ferulic acid content of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.【Method】 Field experiment with randomized block design was conducted.【Results】 The nitrogen topdressing date and rate in the next spring have both effect on growth, dry matter accumulation and its distribution, yield, total alkaloid and ferulic acid content of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.Appropriate nitrogen topdressing rate in early spring can increase the plant height, tiller number, root length, dry weight per plant and the distribution rate to rhizome,so as the yield, total alkaloid and ferulic acid content of rhizome.【Conclusion】 Appropriate nitrogen topdressing rate in early spring can increase the yield, total alkaloid and ferulic acid content of rhizome of Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort. The most suitable method is about 31.8 kg N/hm2 topdressing in March 6th.
