Abstract
Areal types of the fern plants in Guizhou province were statistically analyzed. The results showed that: 1) there are 922 species( varieties, forms) belonging to 148 genera of 54 families of pteridophytes in Guizhou province; 2) 82 out of the 148 genera( accounting for 55. 41%) are the tropical genera, indicating that tropical element was dominant at the genus level; 3) the flora is of ancient origin and therefore with many relic genera, and the endemic phenomenon is not obvious; 4) the landforms and the climate in Guizhou are suitable for the distribution and growth of pteridophytes, making it an ideal region for the highly development of fern plants.
