Abstract

The author first analyzed the wood importexport trade in China during 2005 and predicted a trend in 2006.He then presented his views on the future of the wood industry in China with a focus on the wood resource issue. In his opinion, the increasing stock volume of forest resources, both in China and abroad, should be beneficial to the wood industry in China. He also argued against those fallacies that ascribe the destruction of international forests to China. Finally,he suggested that Chinese manufactures should transform their production mode from being labor intensive to capital and technology intensive, and expand international markets by manufacturing good quality, brand names and maintaining good credit.
