Abstract

Objective:To provide the sectional anatomic data for MRI localization of brain. Methods:The localization of brain fiber tracts on the coronal MRI was studied with MRI of 30 human head specimens correlated with 4mm thick serial coronal sections and brain stripped specimens. The preparation of the brain slices in correspondence with MR scan took the line as base one.Perpendicular to AC PC line through the midpoint. Results:Contrast with the brain specimens, main brain fiber tracts can be identified with cerebral sulci, gyri, and grey matter structures. These fiber tracts included frontopontine fasciculus, cingulum, superior longitudinal fasciculus, anterior thalamic radiations, temporopontine fasciculus, pyramidal tract, fornix, uncinate fasciculus, inferior longitudinal fasciculus, anterior commisure, central thalamic radiations, acustic radiation, optic radiation, occipitopontine fasciculus, etc. Conclusion:Main brain fiber tracts can be indentified on coronal MRI.
