Abstract

Objective To know the attitude of self-disclosure of HIV serostatus and related factors among HIV positive people. Methods The questionnaire survey was conducted among 361 people who were newly tested with HIV from 2008 Jan to December in four counties in Yunnan and Guangxi. Results Among 361 respondents with HIV,72.6% intended to inform HIV-positive status to their spouses or regular sexual partners and 22.0% were willing to notify their casual sexual partners.63.2% and 6.2% were willing to inform their family and friends separately.Univariate and multivariate logistic regression both showed that age(OR=3.73,95% CI=1.22-11.38),AIDS awareness(OR=63.13,95% CI= 20.76-191.97)and discussion about partner notification(OR=2.32,95% CI=1.01-5.79) were associated with regular sexual partner notification. Conclusion There were still some people who intended not to inform HIV-positive status to others. We should further increase the rate of self-disclosure,especially sexual partner notification rate for decreasing risk behaviors of HIV positive people and preventing secondary transmission of HIV.
