Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of image reconstruction with spiral CT in the spondylolysis of the lumbar spine. Methods The CT appearances of maximum intensity projection (MIP), multiplanar reformation (MPR), shaded surface display (SSD) images of spondylolysis of lumbar spine were analyzed in 20 cases. Results MIP and MPR well displayed 38 sites of lumbar spondyloschisis in 15 cases, the former did better. SSD showed 16 cases vertebral olisthy clearly. MPR together with axial images could well display the entire picture of spondyloschisis and spinal canal. Conclusion Broken ala sign, broken handle sign, broken neck sign and broken ring sign are special CT appearances of lumbar spine spondylolysis.Multi-series reconstruction images with spiral CT pky an important role in the diagnosis of the spondylolysis of lumbar spine and in selecting treatment methods.
