On the Marxist Direction in the Frankfurt School’s Critique of Modernity

Frankfurt School is an important branch of Western Marxism. Although it has ceased to be a an independent school, its real meaning for human thinking and its position in today’s philosophy have not been appreciated properly. But the problem should not be put aside, because its pursuit in the critique of contemporary cultural consciousness has not finished, and is still a vigorous theme in today’s philosophical movement. The theme lies in today’s development of Marxism, and is also a fundamental motive in the contemporary criticisms of the tradition of Western philosophy.
