Abstract

To explore the expression and clinical significance of the cell adhesion molecular CD 44 variant isofroms6(CD 44 V 6 )in esophageal carcinoma.Expression of CD 44 V 6 protein in50cases with esophageal carcinoma and50cases with normal esophageal mucosa were examined by flocytometry technique. The expression of CD 44 V 6 protein in esophageal carcinoma tissue and normal esophageal mucosa were72%and20%,respectively.There was significant difference between these two group(P0.05).The expression of CD 44 V 6 protein in tumor tissue showed no relationship with the clinicopathological factors including age, sex, site, size, pathological grade, stage of differentiation. The positive rate of CD 44 V 6 in the case with lymph node metastasis was higher than that without. There was significant difference of the positive rate of CD 44 V 6 in dif-ferent depths of invasion.[Conclusion]CD 44 V 6 may be a marker for the diagnosis of metastasis and invasion for esophageal carcinoma. The application of CD 44 V 6 to clinic is worth further exploring.
