Abstract

Objective To explore the expression and Clinical significance of TTF-1 in NSCLC tissues. Methods Immunohistochemistry(SP method)was used to detect the expression of TTF-1 in 75 cases of NSCLC tissues(including 36 cases of adenocarcinoma and 39 cases of squamous cell carcinoma),with its normal carcinoma tissue adjacent to reference. The value of TTF-1 in the identification of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma was explored. And the relationships between TTF-1 expression and clinicopathologic characteristics and prognosis in non-small cell lung cancers were analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of TTF-1 in adenocarcinoma tissues(30/36,83.3%) was significantly higher than that in squamous cell carcinoma tissues(3/39,7.69%)(P 0.05).And the expression of TTF-1 is unrelated to clinical and pathologic data such as patients'genders, ages,TNM stages, tumor size and lymph nodes metastasis(P0.05).Moreover,univariate prognostic factor analyzed by Kaplan-Meier method indicated that in the median survival time for adenocarcinoma with positively expression of TTF-1 was significantly longer than that of patients with negatively expression of TTF-1(P0.05).However,in squamous cell carcinoma,it doesn't seem like it has a clearly meaning. Conclusion TTF-1 is involved in the development of lung cancer. The detection of expression of TTF-1 can be used for the diagnosis and identification of adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. It might he a potentially valuable indicator to predict the prognosis of patients in NSCLC.
