Abstract
Objective To explore the effects of interleukin-13(IL-13) on cell proliferation and interleukin-113(IL-1β) production in mesangial cell. Methods Cell proliferation was tested by MTT method. The expression of IL-1β mRNA in mesangial cells was evaluated by RT-PCR. The protein synthesis of IL-1β in mesangial cells was measured by ELISA. Results IL-13. in the range of concentration from 1 ng/ml to 100 ng/ml. could inhibit the proliferation of mesangial cells with or without inducing by LPS: Il-13. in the same range of concentration, also inhibited obviously the expression of IL-1β mRNA and the protein release of IL-1β induced by LPS in mesangial cells. IL-13 in 10 ng/ml could inhibit almost completely the expression of IL-1β mRNA induced by LBS. Conclusion IL-13 can inhibit the proliferation of mesangial cells and IL-1βproduction induced by LBS in mesangial cells.
