Clinical Value of 64-slice Three-dimensional Computed Tomographic Angiography to Diagnosis of Intracranial Aneurysms

Abstract

Objective To investigate the value of 64-slice Three-dimensional computed tomographic angiography(3D-CTA) to the diagnosis of intracranial aneurysms taking spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) as dominant clinical manifestation.Methods The clinical data of 181 patients with SAH,including 3D-CTA,DSA and operative data and so on,were analyzed retrospectively.The 3D-CTA anti DSA images were analyzed in double-blind by a neurosurgeon and a neuroadiologist or a interventional neuroadiologist.The outcomes of intracranial aneurysms diagnosed by 3D-CTA were compared to those by DSA and operations.Results 3D-CTA showed that of 181 patients with SAH,143 suffered from aneurysms(166 aneurysms) and 38 did not.DSA and the operation showed that of 181 patients with SAH,144 suffered from aneurysms(170 aneurysms) and 37 did not.The detection rate of aneurysms by 3D-CTA was 97.6%.The 3D-CTA detection rate of aneurysms in diameter≤2 mm was 66.7%,and that of the aneurysms in diameter≥2 mm closely 100%.The aneurismal body and neck,parent artery,and the relationship between the aneurysms and the structures surrounding them were clearly shown by 3D-CTA.Conclusions The 64-slice 3D-CTA is a sensitive,quick,noninvasive and economical method to diagnose the intracranial aneurysms.The combined use of 3D-CTA and DSA may be more helpful to the diagnosis and treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
