Abstract

In order to offer a morphological basis for preventing any injury to laryngeal nerve during the ligation on thyroid artery in thyroid operation, the origin, way, branch, distribution and their accompanying relationship between thyroid artery and laryngeal nerve were anatomical observed. The result showed that(1)the 84.88% of thyroid artery started from extemal carotid artery diameter of begining part was 2 2±0 8(1 1~3 4)mm,its lenth from starting part to thyroid was (3 1±1 3)cm.(2)the laryngeal nerve started from lower ganglion inferius and its diameter of starting part was(2 0±0 4)mm.Its internal and external branch separated at the plaes of greater horn of hyoid bone and its external branch separated from thyroid artery at the part of (0 9±0 4)cm from the pole of thyroid.(3)In the above and middle part of thyroid, the thyroid artaery was close concomitant to the laryngeal nerve and separated at its lower part. The inserting part of laryngeal nerve to cricothyroid muscle was at the point of (7±3) mm from the pole of the thyroid.
