In eastem and western district of Kaifeng, Henan province, two urban sewage treatment plants have been constructed by municipality that can dispose 200 000 and 80 000 tons of sewage per day. About 10 000 tons of COD have been cut down each year since the facilities were put in motion, which greatly reduced the consistency of the major pollutants when coming out of water and the general draining amount as well. The water quality of two sewageadmining riverMajia River and Huiji River has been apparently improved.
