Abstract
Objective To investigate the impact of left atrial enlargement on paroxysmal atrial fibrillation and analyze the significance of changes of P wave dispersion. Methods The left atrial diameters of 108 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation were measured by echocardiography. According to the results of echocardiography, the patients were divided into two groups, Group left atrial enlargement and Group normal left atrial. The incidence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in 108 patients was recorded by 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiogram. And the P wave dispersion(PD)of a sinus rhythm selected from the 12-lead electrocardiogram(ECG) was recorded. And the relationship of them was discussed. Results PD and Pmax of patients with left atrial enlargement were significantly larger than those of patients with normal left atrial, and the incidence of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation was obviously higher than that of patients with normal left atrial. Conclusion Left atrial enlargement was an important factor in producing atrial electrophysiological disorder and atrial fibrillation.
