The expression of CD44v6 and PTEN gene protein in relation to the metastasis and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of CD44v6 and epithelial cadherin(PTEN) gene protein expression with potential of metastasis and prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detect CD44v6 and PTEN expression in 110 cases of HCC.Results The positive expression rate of CD44v6 and PTEN in HCC was 42.7 %(47/110) and 33.6%(37/110) respectively.HCC with positive expression of CD44v6 has higher metastatic rate(P0.05),poorer survival rate in 5 years(P0.05).HCC with positive PTEN expression has lower metastatic rate(P0.05) and higher survival rate in 5 years(P0.05).Conclusion These data show the expression of CD44v6 and PTEN is closely related to the potential of metastasis and survival rate in HCC.CD44v6 and PTEN may be a prognostic indicators in HCC.
